Christmas Village in Bacolod City - Philippines

One of the most famous, inviting, and appealing sightseeing spots in Bacolod City, Christmas Village is found along San Juan Street. To find this tourist destination, people should not expect an entire village that features attractive lights and displays since this site is only a miniature of several beautiful Christmas village decorations. Situated inside the house of one of the famous La Consolacion College professors, Bamboo Tonugbanua, at San Juan Street in Bacolod, this sightseeing spot can be easily reached by tourists because there are public utility vehicles such as jeepneys, which usually pass or travel along this street. It is also near to some commercial establishments in the city like Sea Breeze Hotel.

Before entering the place, people will be greeted by the professor to orient them about the rules when visiting Christmas Village. This unique and attractive display features different houses, skiing, parks, and candy factories. To make this Christmas miniature more attractive and organized, Tonugbanua grouped the displays into several villages and named them as Victorian Village, Dickens Village, Santas Village, as well as New England and Swiss Village. For those who want to have ideas about the special attractions in this Bacolod sightseeing spot, some of the most beautiful and appealing displays that they can see in the place include an old couple relaxing in a bench, as well as a stained glass church located on a hilltop.

Christmas Village is a personal collection of Tonugbanua. Because of his interest in Christmas displays, he was able to create miniatures of villages that promote the usual scenarios during the yuletide season. To showcase his skills in arts and crafts, the professor started to open the viewing of his collection to the public in 1994. This tourist sightseeing spot is open throughout the month of December. For those who want to have a closer glance at these wonderful and captivating Christmas displays, they can visit the place from six in the evening until nine in the evening.

Many tourists in Bacolod like to visit this attraction because they do not need to spend huge amount of money to view the displays. There are no entrance fees and they can give donations if they feel doing so. Professor Bobby Tonugbanua uses the donation to enhance the attractiveness of his collection. With all the beautiful Christmas decorations and displays, as well as the affordability of visiting this site, Christmas Village is one of the tourist destinations that people should consider seeing if they happen to visit or spend their vacation in Bacolod City.
